About the Waxahachie Symphony Association

Since grant funding covers only a small portion of our annual costs, we rely heavily on individual contributions and subscriptions to fund concerts. Individual subscriptions and contributions represent our single largest source of operating revenue. We appreciate your continued generosity as we bring high caliber classical and jazz performances to Waxahachie and surrounding communities in 2007 -2008.

Moreover, we invite you to contribute your time and effort to assist us in making the next season a reality. If you are interested in volunteering, or have questions about subscriptions, donations, or corporate underwriting, please contact Edwin and Carol Farrar at 972-938-0404

Funding for this season is provided in part by the Texas Commission on the Arts (a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts) and the Waxahachie Arts Council.

Scholarship Program

Each year, local Ellis County High School seniors submit applications and audition for scholarships made available, in part, by the funding received through season subscriptions, corporate underwriting, and individual donations. Last year the WSA awarded four scholarships to deserving college-bound seniors with a talent and affinity for music.

Fort Worth Symphony Student Concerts

Because of your support, the WSA is able to present two instructive as well as entertaining concerts for young children from area schools. You are investing in your community by helping to sustain this enriching program. The student concerts are scheduled for Fall 2007 in the Waxahachie Fine Arts Center.

Belles and Beaus Program

The Symphony Bells and Beaus Program, open to local high school seniors, is designed to develop an appreciation for classical (as well as other types of ) music and an awareness of the importance of community service. Participants in this program attend a series of seminars aimed at increasing knowledge of the arts and  improving social skills and self confidence.  For more information please call Debra Wakeland at 972-937-2390
